HERSHENOW is a Los Angeles-based design practice focused on residential interiors. Founded by musician and designer Max Hershenow, the studio is built on the premise of listening carefully: to clients, to context and to collaborators. The work balances beauty, comfort, creativity and specificity within the realities of a space, creating homes that are both inspiring and practical.

That approach is shaped by a broad range of cultural and visual references, from Max’s upbringing split between rural Idaho and Latin America to a career as an artist, songwriter and producer that has taken him around the world. He studied Urban Studies at Vassar College, where his focus on architectural design gave him an early foundation in how spaces are conceived and communicated. His experience across music, dance and theater further informs the studio’s attention to rhythm, movement and the visualization of spatial ideas.

Before beginning his solo practice, Max spent two years as a founder and principal designer at Onsen Studio. His homes and creative life have been featured in
The New York Times, Architectural Digest and Dwell.

HERSHENOW is currently taking projects of all sizes, including full renovations, furnishings projects and hourly design consults in LA and beyond.
